 What is a Chestnut? Chestnuts are sweet edible nuts encapsulated by a spiky capsule from a chestnut tree.
Where does Chestnut grow? Chestnut trees are native to warm northern hermisphere regions. In European countries, the edible nuts are often roasted and sold by street vendors as a treat. American chestnut trees have been destroyed almost to extinction by the chestnut blight (a fungus) which the American chestnuts have little resistance.
Benefits: Tea made with leaves are recommended for treating respiratory conditions such as sore throats and coughs. Its chemical properties have a sedative effect on the repiratory nerves.
Precautions: There are no known reported drug interactions or side-effects from the usage of chestnuts.
