 What is Chondroitin? Chondroitin is a natural substance that makes up the cartilage connective tissues found between joints. As humans age, the cartilage gets worn down daily.
Where does Chondroitin come from? A natural source for consumption is animal cartilage (cow, pigs, and shark fins). It can also be manufactured synthetically in chemical labs. About 15% is absorbed intact through the human digestive system.
Benefits: Recommended for arthritis sufferers because it may improve joint mobility and slow cartilage loss. Clinical studies have shown impovement on joint functions and diminished pain in individuals with knee and hip osteoarthritis when taking chondroitin preparations.
Precautions: Do not use chondroitin if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or have a blood clotting disorder.
