 What is Cinchona? Cinchona is a tree valued for its Peruvian bark, a source of quinine (for treating malaria).
Where does Cinchona grow? Native to mountainous regions of central American countries. Today, it can be found cultivated worldwide.
Benefits: Often used to treat appetite loss and indigestion. Clinical studies have shown its chemical properties are able to stimulate the production of gastric juices. Also used to treat chills and fevers caused by malaria.
Precautions: Take cinchona only in regulated dosages, the quinine content of the bark is very potent. If overdosed, it can cause nausea and irregular heartbeats.
