 | Comfrey
What is Comfrey? Comfrey is a bell-shaped purple flower growing up to a height of 100 centimeters and often clustered together. A traditional healing herb valued for its ability to treat wounds and reduce inflammation.
Where does Comfrey grow? Comfrey is native to temperate regions of Europe and Asia. It prefers damp areas around river banks and ditches.
Benefits: Applied externally, it is good for healing bruises, wounds, and sprains because its chemical allantoin properties are able to stimulate the reproduction of cells and tissue regeneration.
Precautions: Do not use comfrey for long extended periods of time. It is also not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Not for ingestion, because of high alkaloid levels in the roots as it can cause liver damage.
